Frequently Asked Questions
How do you operate?
Bazarmama purchases your groceries from your local market/bazaar. Once you place an order, our shopper purchases your items from a local grocer to ensure freshness, quality and savings. When complete, our runner brings your order to you. We do not have our own stores or merchandise — we depend on local markets to provide our service to you.
Why do you exist?
Shopping for essentials is, well, essential, but given our busy lives, it quickly becomes a chore. Shopping online is a simple alternative, but may not offer the same variety, freshness or price advantages of shopping locally. This is where Bazarmama comes in — we aim to save you time by doing exactly what you would do yourself. However, as a service that serves multitudes of people such as yourself, we aim to maximize the economies of scale and deliver the benefits to you. As a result, you save time and money, get the same products you would otherwise get, and the local markets earn your business. By staying local to you, we also ensure that you get your order in the shortest possible time — there is no deliver time lost waiting in traffic.
Which areas do you serve?
Currently, Bazaarmama is only serving customers in Bashundhara, Dhaka – sadly, we are unable to deliver to other localities in and outside of Dhaka. This is only temporary: we plan to grow our footprint into other localities in short order as the demand grows for our service.
Are you an online retailer?
No. Bazarmama does not have an inventory of products, nor does it purchase bulk items. All of our dealings are with retailers in your local market — our aim is to service local communities from local markets. This way, we minimize time and overhead, maximize efficiency, savings, freshness and inventory.
How can I contact you?
You can contact us in multiple ways:
On the web: bazarmama.xyz
Via Facebook: facebook.com/BazarMama.xyz
Phone: 09 678 283 283
What are your service hours?
We generally operate all weekdays from 9 AM to 8 PM and even during public holidays. We will take some time off during the year, for example on Eid ul Fitr: this will be clearly communicated via text messages to our customers as well as through our website and Facebook channels.
How do I pay?
Currently we are only able to accept Cash on Delivery (COD).
Can I order over the Phone?
Yes. Our friendly sales representatives are available during our office hours on 0197 2747850, 0197 2747851.
What if an item on my order is unavailable?
Because we depend on the local markets to supply our inventory, on rare occasions, an item you ordered may not be available. In such a scenario, our shopper will call you and ask you to either choose a replacement item (for example, a similar item from a different brand), or cancel the said item. This gives you the same freedom to choose that you would have if you had gone shopping yourself, while letting us save you time and effort.
What if a delivered item is not as ordered?
Please let us know as soon as possible. We recommend that you check your order as soon as you receive it — if an item does not match what your ordered, we will either replace it for you or refund its price. This does not happen often, but if and when it does, we will try to ensure your convenience and satisfaction above everything else.
Some of the scenarios that fall in this category are:
item is of a different brand, size, or type (example: Teer oil instead of Rupchanda)
item is not fresh — typically wet market items such as fish or meat
item is expired — packed items that have a printed expiry date
item does not meet specifications (example: boneless meat when meat with bone was ordered)
Can I cancel my order?
No, unfortunately this is not possible for us. Once you place an order, our shopper immediately starts shopping, and purchases your items, so it is not possible for us to return these items. If you confirm your order, you are contractually bound to receive your items and make necessary payments.
How soon can you deliver my order?
We aim to deliver your purchase within 2 hours of your order when it is placed during business hours (9 AM – 8 PM all week). If placed outside of business hours, we will deliver by 11 AM the following day.
What precautions are taken in for COVID?
At BazarMama, we take the health and safety of our customers as well as our staff very seriously. During the current COVID 19 pandemic, we have made it mandatory for our staff to always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks as gloves. Our staff will also follow any and all health directives mandated by relevant health authorities and the government, such as using hand sanitizers at all times. Lastly, we recommend contact-less deliveries, where our staff will leave your order at your doorstep, unless you, the customer, require them to wait to deliver personally to you. At the same time, we do expect our valued customers to abide by basic hygiene and health directives.
